The Emmanuel Society invites you to a very special event at Westminster Abbey. An architectural masterpiece of the 13th to 16th centuries, Westminster Abbey stands as one of the world’s foremost sites for historical and ecclesiastical importance. This event will give you an in-depth experience and privileged access to areas rarely seen by the public.

You will meet and be guided around the Abbey by some of those who know the fabric of the buildings best. Over the course of an hour, in small groups, you’ll learn about the characters, construction and coronations that have illuminated the Abbey’s thousand years of history.
As the tours conclude, you will enter the Jerusalem Chamber, the principal room of the medieval house of the Abbots of Westminster and now part of the Deanery, usually closed to the public, for a reception of drinks and canapes. As his guests for the evening, the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend David Hoyle, will welcome you.
Optional elements before the tours
Before the tours commence, you are invited to view the external 13th century archaeological footprint of Henry III’s Great Sacristy. The Abbey plans to construct a new building on this site - the King Charles III Sacristy. This represents a unique opportunity to see the footprint before building commences towards the end of the year. There is no additional cost.
You are also welcome to join members for Choral Evensong from 5.00-5.45pm.
Please confirm if you'd like to attend these optional elements when booking.
