Why Choose Emmanuel?

In many ways, the 29 undergraduate colleges in Cambridge are very similar. However, each college has its own distinct identity, community, and history.

Emmanuel College is known for being one of the friendliest colleges in Cambridge. Located in the city centre, we welcome around 140 new undergraduates each year to join our community of around 600 students, 100 fellows, and 150 staff. Every year, we welcome students from throughout the UK and across the globe. This means that no matter who you are or where you are from, you will meet like-minded people who you will live and learn alongside.

We are located on St Andrew’s Street, opposite the Grand Arcade shopping centre. Our central location means you are within easy reach of shops, cafés, and restaurants, as well as being a short walk or cycle from most University departments and facilities.

Even though we are based in the city centre, the College site offers plenty of green space and gardens, which students can be found enjoying year-round. At Emmanuel College, we guarantee all undergraduate students College accommodation throughout their degree, with all first-year students being based on the College site. Living in College means you are close to your friends and can easily access our facilities, including the dining hall, music rooms, and our outdoor pool.

No matter what you are interested in, you are bound to find other Emmanuel students who share your interests. In College, we have a wide range of clubs and societies offering everything from rowing to music and gardening.
